Our Team — BluSENSE

About Us

Meet the Team

BluSENSE was built by people who spent careers in the field — and got frustrated enough to build the tool they wished had existed.

Dr. Markus Lenger
Co-Founder
Dr. Markus Lenger

Dr. Markus Lenger is co-founder of BluSENSE and CEO of CleanBlu Innovations, a leading innovator in wastewater treatment and water reuse. With over 35 years of experience as both a physicist and electrical engineer, Markus has developed patented water and biological monitoring systems that form the technical foundation of BluSENSE. He holds a BS in Electronic Engineering, an MS in Laser Technology, and a Doctorate in High Energy Physics.

Markus is deeply involved in shaping the future of water standards — serving as Chair of the WE•Stand Residential Direct Potable Water Reuse Committee, Board Member of ARCSA, and voting member of both ISO Sustainable Non-sewered Sanitation Systems and ISO Water Reuse in Urban Areas. Outside of work, he is an avid sailor and hiker who enjoys exploring the coastal regions of the Southwest with his wife.

Gina Lenger
Co-Founder
Gina Lenger

Gina Lenger is co-founder of BluSENSE and leads two companies across complementary fields: BluSENSE, a California-based building performance monitoring company; and CleanBlu Innovations, a leading innovator in wastewater treatment and water reuse. Across both, she oversees finance, marketing, sales, and operations — the connective tissue that keeps the businesses running and growing.

At BluSENSE, Gina drives everything from website development and content creation to sales strategy, agreements, and day-to-day business operations. Her background supporting C-suite executives gave her an early and deep understanding of what it takes to build and run a successful company — and the ability to move fluidly between the strategic and the operational.

When she's not working, Gina loves to travel — particularly to places where she can discover new food cultures and wine.

Gary Klein
Co-Founder
Gary Klein

Gary Klein, President of Gary Klein & Associates, Inc., has been intimately involved in energy efficiency and renewable energy since 1974. Since the early 1990s he has led the effort to incorporate "hot water as a system" into the core principles of building science. After serving 19 years with the California Energy Commission, he has provided consulting on sustainability since 2008, with an emphasis on the water-energy-carbon-health connection.

Klein received a BA from Cornell University in 1975 with an Independent Major in Technology and Society. The International Association of Plumber and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) recognised his efforts in 2014 presenting him their Green Professional of the Year award. In 2015 the Department of Energy awarded him the Jeffrey A. Johnson Award for Excellence in the Advancement of Building Energy Codes.

Daryl Miller
Technology
Daryl Miller

Daryl Miller is a tech industry veteran with over 30 years of experience in hardware, software, and network technologies related to the Internet of Things. As Vice President of Engineering at Lantronix, Inc., Daryl directed the design and development of their signature products. Before that, he spent 14 years at Tektronix in multiple technical and management positions.

His expertise in embedded systems and data management transformed the BluSENSE prototype into a scalable platform — bringing the security, latency performance, and reliability that demanding deployments require. He holds a bachelor's degree in information systems and an MBA, and is a named inventor on several patents. In his free time, Daryl enjoys camping and hiking in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and their Shiba Inu.
